The ultimate purpose of entering an IP address during the registration process is to find a specific domain name that matches your domain name. If the domain name you enter is not available, the search will continue. If, however, the domain name you enter is available, the process is made easier. Entering an IP address during registration completes the registration process. The next step is to register the domain name. Enter thenslookup command right after you have entered the domain name you want to look up. When you do not include any other parameters, you are going to immediately enter the interactive host mode. This mode supports both the use of various domain name checking services. You just have to specify the first parameter to "-", and the second one to enter the DNS server address or host name. The query will then appear and you have to hit the return key to complete the query. If you did not register any domain name during the registration process, it will not appear in the query result. It is for this reason that some people ask if they can perform the query with the default option. If you are in the default or non-interactive mode, then you may enter any domain name you want to check. If you specify any domain name during the interactive hosting session, then the query will be shown regardless of whether you are in the interactive or non-interactive mode. In case you type any domain name while you are in the non-interactive mode, the query result will be controlled by the properties for that domain name. In the interactive mode, a user may enter any domain name that is part of the Internet protocol. If any of the DNS servers is unable to provide the requested information, then the query will fail. The query will be returned to the client as a NSLookup query. If the requested information is not found in the database, then the NSLookup command will return an error message. If you have registered any domain name but are still using the non-interactive mode, then you may enter the query by typing the domain name query into your web browser. If you have entered the name using the -p parameter then you will be provided with the name of the DNS server that provides the name. If the name is available, then the server's URL will be displayed on the browser window. In case you need the IP address, then you have to specify it using the IP dns domain name of your choice. The dns query consists of one or more IP addresses separated by dots. There is a reverse look up facility also known as the dig and trace which is commonly used to perform reverse searches. You can use the dig command for a detailed report. If you are looking for a specific record, then you can use the find option of the dns lookup to find the required information. This is the most commonly used function for finding information about DNS records. You may find information such as owner name, address, location and other related fields. The find option of the dns lookup also provides you with the name of the primary and secondary zones of a domain name. If you have registered the domain name, but are not using it yet, then you can try to ping the domain name. You have to use the Pping tool which is found at the top of your browser and ping the domain name in the search box. The domain name will be pinged at least once an hour and you can check the activity by logging into your account online. The IP address will be added in the Ping log and you can see all the details of the domain name in the Ping log. The BIN database will also be updated from time to reflect any changes in the BIN records of the domain name. |
